Media Profiles

OpenMontage defines platform-specific media profiles that control the final rendered video's resolution, aspect ratio, encoding parameters, and platform constraints. These profiles are applied during composition to produce deliverables optimized for the target platform.

Profiles are selected based on the video's intended distribution channel and locked as part of the production plan. Each profile also specifies the video codec, audio codec, CRF value, pixel format, maximum file size, maximum duration, and caption format.

Platform Constraints

Vertical profiles (youtube_shorts, instagram_reels, tiktok) use a 9

aspect ratio for mobile-first consumption. YouTube Shorts are capped at 60 seconds; Instagram Reels allow up to 90 seconds. Square content for Instagram Feed uses a 1
ratio at 1080x1080.

Landscape profiles (youtube_landscape, linkedin) target 16

for desktop and professional viewing. The 4K YouTube profile supports higher-resolution uploads. The cinematic profile uses an ultrawide 21
ratio suited for trailer-style or mood-driven videos.

Usage in Production

Specify the target platform when describing your video idea or during the proposal stage. The selected profile determines the render settings passed to the composition step and enforces duration and format limits in later stages.

For details on how render runtimes apply these profiles, see Composition Runtimes. Default output settings such as resolution and codec can be reviewed or adjusted in Configuration.
